Now most people have heard of the term Metabolism, but what is it exactly.
According to our handy Wikipedia site it states “Metabolism is the set of life-sustaining chemical transformations within the cells of living organisms. These enzyme-catalyzed reactions allow organisms to grow and reproduce, maintain their structures, and respond to their environments.”
Ok, so if any of you went cross-eyed reading that, don’t worry just hang in there. Basically when we talk about your Metabolism we are generally talking about slow and fast metabolisms and we are usually always referring to weight.
People with fast metabolisms seem to find it very easy to NOT gain weight and are at the envy of many people.
People with slow metabolisms generally find it hard to lose weight and find it very easy to pile on the pounds.
Now there are many theories out there around speeding up your metabolism but the common element in most of these is unfortunately exercise. Exercise when done regularly will naturally make your body speed up your metabolism making it easier for you to keep those pounds off.
Some recent studies have shown that a hormone in your body called Leptin helps speed up your Metabolism. Apparently high levels of Leptin speed up your metabolism and signal your body to burn fat and low levels of Leptin slow down your metabolism and signal your body to store fat.
Well apparently Leptin is our starvation hormone and everybody has a genetically set level. Now when your Leptin level is above your biological threshold, your brain tells your body that you have sufficient energy which means you can go and burn energy at a normal rate, eat a normal amount & exercise at a normal rate. So in this case you are producing extra Leptin levels and everything is great. You feel healthy, look healthy and have lots of energy.
When your Leptin levels fall below your biological level your body goes into starvation mode and you start storing fat. This can apparently happen at any time when you are overweight or even when you have lost weight by way of a crash diet. A crash diet actually drops your Leptin levels below your threshold and is one of the reasons why you gain wieght again very quickly. Your body goes into starvation mode and stores fat.
So based on that theory girls, how do you up our Leptin levels and make that weight just fall off ready for the holidays.
While there are never massive shortcuts to losing weight there are programs out there that can make life a lot easier.
If you wake up each morning, look in the mirror and are not happy with what is staring back at you, go to the wardrobe and think every item of clothing you own makes you feel underwhelmed and unmotivated then maybe this program is for you
It’s called the Venus Factor and it can be found below
Remember crash diets don’t work – what you lose you pile back on twice as fast.
